Here are a few shots from a recent adventure at the Hearn Generating station. Unlike the last time with quite a few people milling about all afternoon, this time security was present. And then the police. And some people received tickets. And a few of us hid and snapped some photos, not many photos but a few.
I have also been trying out a few new things in Lightroom (love it!) and some of it is working out quite nice.

If the truth be told, my whole experiment with the "one shot a day " post, didn't turn out as advertised. Sure I started taking photos every day, then one day you have the camera, and one day becomes two days, and then life comes in and it doesn't get done.
S0...................sneakily I have been editing the pics slowly over time and posting them on their appropriate days and in the future hope to keep up with the shooting and posting in a normal "as advertised fashion.

Here are a few photos from a trip to Sleepy Hollow back last October, featuring more fun with Lightroom and some cool FX.

I came across this photo on facebook, and actually had to look at it a few times before it sunk in that this was actually a picture of one of my pieces. The piece ( I have posted the actual photo below ) was hanging at The Fountain Gallery and Bar on Dundas street west over the Chistmas holidays and apparently someone had their photo taken with it. Fantastic!

Nudie and the Turks

It was a real treat to walk down the stairs at the Dakota Tavern the other night to be greeted by the sounds of Nudie and the Turks. The band was ripping through some classic country covers, and spicing up the set list with their own original creations, and I had to do a double take when I heard this guy sing. He sounds a little like Stompin' Tom every now and then, and why not, the band hails from the greatest of our smallest province, PEI (also the home of Mr. Connors)

Here are a few more photos from Sunday`s photo adventure in the St. Lawrence Market area.
I decided to post these photos as shot, and not to crop any of them. I was trying to pay special attention to the compositions when I was shooting, trying to get a nice feel in all of the photos even before getting to the editing stage in the computer.

I thought I would edit this photo to remove the hydro wire in the bottom and maybe the branches in the top, when I was shooting this, then after looking at it I know wish I had taken a step back and included a little more of the branches and the wire. Next time!

Dodge Fiasco at the Dakota Tavern

The Dakota Tavern has been a real gem for myself, and other music lovers in Toronto, providing live bands every single night of the week. The band Dodge Fiasco started playing a regular Wednesday night slot last spring, and these photos were taken on the final night of their residency. If you haven`t heard of the band you can check out their myspace page HERE.
I had completely forgotten to post these pictures on here until now, having added them to my facebook page back when i originally took these in the fall.
This was actually my first REAL live band shooting experience. In the past I always brought along my little point and shoot digital, and the results were less than pleasing, so I finally had a decent setup to shoot and the results are posted below.

Although I haven`t been posting on a regular basis, I have been out shooting regularly.
The problem is that I am finding it hard keeping on the post production end of things, such as editing, cropping, and color adjustment. All of the extra gravy if you will.
A friend suggested using Adobe Lightroom 2.1 for editing, and that is what I have been focusing on as of late.
Anyway on to some new photos! Just some random shots from way back on Valentine's Day.

I took a tour of graffiti alley to see what was happening this afternoon , and found a couple of guys already painting . I had an opportunity this Sunday to get out and take some pictures down and around the HarbourFront . The objective was mostly to try out a new lens I bought for my 35mm camera . It is a 28mm lens which slightly distorts the picture depending on the distance from the subject , and allows you to shoot larger buildings and fit them in the frame . So while I am waiting to get the film back I will post some of the shots I took with my cheap digital camera . Hopefully I can use these shots to compare with the ones shot using the 28 mm lens .

A couple of photos from my trip back in August 2001 to England . The first is a shot of the old Apple records headquarters where the Beatles performed together in public for the last time . They have since added a fourth story to the old building . The next pictures are from outside Abbey Road studios , where the Beatles recorded the majority of their work . The cement around the front gates is covered in graffiti from fans , including mine . Not exactly examples of great photography but more as a documentation of places I have visited .

Not sure why , but when you scan in black and white negatives , they come out like this , (a kind of sepia effect) before you switch them over to black and white again . Whatever reason it is a pretty neat effect .
